Susie Kerin was one of the last pioneers of the west. Before moving to Colorado, she and her three sisters established homesteads in the Dakotas. Each sister filed a claim. Together they built a house on the corner of the four claims. The four sisters had adventures meeting Native Americans and proving up their homestead. Near the turn of the century, they moved to Colorado, and were acquainted with many of the old time characters that built western town of Denver, Colorado. The poems provide an interesting perspective from the idealistic generation that witnessed the blossoming of Denver into a major metropolis. The poems concern many of the well known landmarks of the area, and show a deep admiration for the people who were actively engaged in bringing culture and development to the West. There is also a hint of sorrow as the pristine lands and rugged frontier culture disappeared. This short collection of verse was printed on glossy paper and had a simple format of a color picture on the left page and a poem on the right.
